Neon Whipstitch on Twisted Stitch Patch – Surface Texture Sample 024

In this test, I hand-stitched a merino patch onto a cotton jersey base using neon yellow embroidery floss. The patch featured a twisted-stitch triangle motif, and the whipstitch was chosen for its bold, surgical aesthetic — high contrast, clean finish.
To reduce bulk and improve the edge tension, I folded in the top and bottom seam allowances of the knitted patch. This gave a flatter application on the jersey, which is key for wearable garments.
Toward the top row, I tested a few bead embellishments for future experiments. This iteration was a pass — though future samples will experiment with alternate yarn weights and symbol placements.
This experiment forms part of the GODDESS.EXE series — symbolic surface tests intended to map protection, intention, and self-inscription through textile design. I’m exploring how ancient Irish symbols, stitches, and folklore can be adapted into modern, wearable coding systems.
